Stepping Out............

Stepping out usually means leaving where you are to do something different. Well, I guess you could say that is exactly what I am doing. I've started my own blog site!!!! The thing is, I'm doing this without any prior knowledge as to what "blogging" actually is! I've never done it before! One of my dearest and closest friends started a blog this week-----as he should, because he is such a gifted writer. When I saw his site, I was so excited that he was going to share all his wonderful stories for everyone to read. That's when the Lord started working on me......my own burning bush, so to speak.

I always watch Christian TV during the day, so it's not unusual at all for me to hear several "sermons" a day.....it's just that today every single one was directed at me to fulfill the potential God intended my life to be. I don't care who I watched.....some of my favorites, or ones I usually don't watch......they all had the same theme------fulfilling God's intended purpose for your life. The Lord has been working on me for quite awhile to use the spiritual gift of teaching He has given me. I once taught on a regular basis, but I currently don't teach at all. I've always felt God was leading me into a much larger forum than a local church or Bible study group, but my mind could not wrap around how this was going to be possible. After reading my friend's blog, it started to all come together. Blogging......that's the avenue I could use to reach and teach. All I could feel was excitement and a certain amount of fear. Excited about the revelation of just how I can teach through blogging and fearful of the negative responses I could receive because of it. I'm not one to seek controversy and in our day and time, stating your Christian beliefs is numero uno in stirring up all kinds of anger! Not my cup of tea! I could never be on one of those "news talk shows" where you argue back and forth with someone who does not share your views or opinions......I would break out crying! So you can see how this type arena of everyone being able to share what they believe or don't believe could be very uncomfortable for me.

As I was pondering all that, the Lord directed my attention to Luke 21:15 (New Century Version): "I will give you the wisdom to say things that none of your enemies will be able to stand against or prove wrong." Thus, here I am and here is where I cross the line to embrace wisdom worth living.

My prayer is that what I share will be embraced by those who read it and used as a positive influence on their lives. I'm here to share my faith and tidbits of my life with those who know absolutely nothing about me and with those who know me the best. I pray that God will lead people to this site and that Satan will have no part in it. Here we go!

  2. Ellen,

Welcome to Blogdom! You are so right. If the Lord has told you to blog, then you must be obedient to His call. He will bless the words of your mouth to encourage and inspire others. Whether that means 500 others, or 5 others is up to Him!

My cousin Bill directed me to your blog and I'm glad he did. Keep playing around with your template and you'll figure out how to post photos and how to add features to your blog. I think you'll enjoy it a lot.

I maintain two blogs right now. http://www.jeanmatthewhall.blogspot.com and http://www.jeanmatthewhallwords.blogspot.com.

Last week I posted here something that might interest you. http://vondaskelton.com/Blog.htm?blog_month=06&blog_year=2010

I'll be praying for you and I plan to drop in and visit from time to time.

Again, Welcome! Like the priests stepping out in obedience at the Red Sea, my sister, God is going to honor your obedience to Him.

    Grace & Peace,
    Jean Hall
